Hedy Tripp, antiracist Director of Lyricality, was part of a yearlong fellowship of the Loft Literary Center. The course was described as recognizing our lives as “a treasure, both utterly unique, never to be repeated again, and also undeniably part of the larger collective. This collective includes contemporary humanity, all our ancestors, as well as all existence in the cosmos. It also includes the unknowable future.”
Tripp was one of five participants of this project, who met weekly via zoom over the course of 2024, and each participant will be sharing parts of their memoir and/or their experiences going through this process. The participants include Angelina Nguyen, Hoang Murphy, Marianne Manzler and Npaus Baim Her. With the expert and loving guidance of our mentor and teacher, Sun Yung Shin, our “creative nonfiction or memoir project became a compelling container for the raw material of our lives. Through writing it, we learned what is most important for us to distill and share with a wider audience.”
Hedy Tripp is also a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
